About
Midnite Gossip is an electronic pop project led by Calgary-based singer, songwriter, and producer Nicky Markin, known for delivering emotionally immersive, movement-driven live performances that feel like a dream sequence unfolding in real time.
Blending rhythm-led electronic production, bold yet intimate vocals, and playful sound design, Midnite Gossip creates emotion-forward electronic pop inspired by the early–mid 2010s wave of female-led electronic music, including Sylvan Esso, Lorde, Tove Lo, and Robyn. The project balances personal storytelling with movement-driven production — delivering songs that feel honest, human, and built for connection and release.
On stage, Midnite Gossip focuses on groove-led, emotionally present performances that invite movement and connection. The live experience balances intimacy and energy, creating sets that feel personal, physical, and quietly euphoric.
Since launching in 2022, Midnite Gossip has performed extensively across Canada, including headlining Wintersong Music Festival and appearing at Robson Valley Music Festival, Soundoff Summit, Canadian Music Week, Satellite Music + Art Festival, and the Calgary Tattoo & Arts Festival. The project has shared stages with artists such as Felix Cartal, Ruby Waters, Bedouin Soundclash, MELTT, Glass Petals, and LUN, building a reputation for dynamic, emotionally resonant live shows.
Midnite Gossip has received national radio airplay on CBC, CKUA, CJSW, and X92.9 FM, with the Live EP (2024) charting multiple times on CJSW and CJSR’s electronic charts. The single “Tightrope” was a Semi-Finalist at the Unsigned Only Music Awards (Female Vocal and Pop/Top 40), further establishing the project’s presence beyond the live circuit.
The project has also gained international recognition for its visual work. The music video for “Streetlights [Mickey Valenz Remix]” has earned multiple awards and nominations, including Best Music Video at the BELIFF Be Epic! Film Fest London (2025) and Best International Music Video at the Zepstone International Film & Music Festival (2025), alongside official selections and finalist placements across festivals in North America and Europe. The video was additionally featured on TasteTV’s Music California series, airing on PBS stations across the United States.
In 2026, Midnite Gossip was selected as one of 32 artists nationwide to appear on CMCTV Talent Season 3, a nationally televised series showcasing Canada’s top independent musicians on CityTV and CMCanadaTV. As Midnite Gossip enters its next chapter, the project is evolving toward deeper electronic textures and more hypnotic, dance-forward arrangements — music designed not just to be heard, but felt. With new releases, collaborations and live shows planned throughout the year, Midnite Gossip continues to carve out space for emotionally honest, immersive experiences rooted in movement, transformation, and connection.
